Teen driving deaths up 12% in North Carolina

There are many teen drivers on North Carolina roads and as parents of teens know, their kids don't always make the best decisions. Despite just having gone through driver's training, some teens engage in reckless driving behavior. One of the behaviors that has seen in increase lately in North Carolina is teen drivers speeding.

Teen driving deaths up 12%

So far in 2020, teen driving deaths have risen 12% from 2019. From January to November 20, there have been 142 fatalities compared to 127 in 2019. The Highway Patrol is trying to determine what the cause is for the increase of accidents. It may be due to more teens being on the road due to distance learning. Teens are also notorious for engaging in distracted driving. In addition, teen drivers also have not had to pass a road test to obtain their Level Two Limited Provisional License. Speeding also remains a problem on North Carolina roads. Since the pandemic began, the Highway Patrol has given out numerous tickets for drivers speeding at over 100 mph.

Personal injury attorney is a victim's advocate

If a family finds themselves the victim of an accident due to no fault of their own, they may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney can investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and help determine what happened. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and lost wages.

No one expects they will be involved in a serious car accident, but unfortunately many families face this reality each year. Those who are injured in an accident due to no fault of their own have the legal right to hold the negligent party responsible for their mistakes.
