Snow Causes Car Accidents in North Carolina

At least five people have died in connection to the winter weather this weekend.
In Wayne County, a snow plow hit a pedestrian walking along the road on U.S. Highway 70-W near Blueberry Road. The victim’s name has not been released.
The Highway Patrol says there’s no indication on whether charges will be filed against the driver.
In Wilson, one man was killed when he drove into a tree. It happened near Hines Street early Saturday morning. Investigators say Trivon McCoy Junior died when he lost control of his car and hit a tree. Passenger Thomas Parker is in critical condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Two others in the back seat were treated for minor injuries and released.
In Surry County, a man died after shoveling snow Saturday morning. Officials say he suffered an apparent heart attack at his home near Dobson.
And a similar incident happened in Charlotte Sunday afternoon. Authorities say a man died after shoveling snow near his home as well. No word on what caused his death.
And police in Gastonia say a man died Saturday night. They say he fell in the snow while taking a walk in a wooded area near his home.
