No students were injured after a car slammed in to the back of an Edgecombe County school bus this afternoon. The Ford Mustang received substantial damage in the crash.
The school system says approximately 40 students from Southwest Edgecombe High School were on bus number 286. The accident happened on NC 111 near Davis Town Road around 2:50 p.m.
The driver of the Mustang and a passenger were taken to the hospital. The front of the car went up under the rear end of the bus. The front of the car was heavily damaged, while the back bumper of the bus was pushed in by the crash.
As is standard procedure, the school system says the driver was replaced for the afternoon route and will undergo a required drug/alcohol test.
