A Salisbury man died after a driver failed to yield when making a left hand turn Friday night on N.C. 801.
Robert Thomas Schenk, 27, of 3010 Sherrills Ford Road, died from injuries in the crash at about 6 p.m. Friday.
According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, Schenk was traveling east on N.C. 801 (Sherrills Ford Road) toward the intersection of Hall Road on his motorcycle.
Frank Osborne Deal, 79, of 8811 Mooresville Road, was making a left hand turn from N.C. 801 onto Hall Road when he turned into the path of Schenk.
The motorcycle struck the side of Deal's vehicle, and Schenk was thrown off and landed in the road.
A third vehicle, driven by David Boyd Lowe of Huntersville, was traveling behind Schenk at the time of the accident, and Lowe had to swerve off the road to avoid hitting him. Lowe's vehicle struck a power box on the right side of the road.
Injuries to Lowe and Deal weren't available.
Deal was not cited for any traffic violation, and any decision on charges will be determined by the district attorney later.
