Fatal Accident in Franklin County
FRANKLIN COUNTY -- A car accident claims the life of a Saline County man.
The accident happened just after 8:00 Monday morning on Route 149 at Moore Road, east of West Frankfort.
Captain Don Jones with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office says a car driven by Mark McGuire, 44, of Raleigh, was eastbound on Route 149 when it crossed the center line and hit a truck head-on.
McGuire was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, Michael Arview, 37, of West Frankfort, was injured in the accident.
Authorities with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Franklin County Coroner's Office, West Frankfort Fire Department, Illinois State Police and Cardinal EMS responded to the scene.
The accident is still under investigation.
