One teenager is dead and another seriously hurt after police say the two were hit by a vehicle on Durant Road in Raleigh.
Police say 14-year-old Lindsey Fesmire and 13-year-old Krista Carcaterra were crossing the road when they were hit by a car just after 3 p.m. Friday. The accident happened near Falls of Neuse Road, not far from Durant Road Middle School. Authorities say, a Raleigh Police Officer who was in the area was able to radio for help immediately.
Both girls were transported to WakeMed. Police say Fesmire died from her injuries. Carcaterra remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Investigators do not anticipate filing charges against the driver at this time, according to Raleigh Police.
