I-240 Lane Closed This Evening in Asheville, North Carolina

ASHEVILLE — A five-car accident and a lane closure on Interstate 240 are creating major delays this evening.

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. on westbound I-240 between Amboy Road and Brevard Road, according to an Asheville Police Department dispatcher.

No injuries have been reported, according to the dispatcher, who added the cars were on the side of the highway but were still impacting traffic.

However, by 8:15, the department reported the accident was almost cleared, and traffic should have begun flowing normally shortly thereafter.

Also, emergency bridge deck repair on a westbound lane between mile markers 1 and 0 was expected to be completed by 8 p.m, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation, which should also help traffic flow.
